6 Summary and Discussion The quote at the beginning of this chapter relates to the time when humanity had yet to conquer the “final frontier” of space. We have many more frontiers to explore, although not of the physical kind as space is. These are frontiers in science and engineering, and frontiers of the mind. We can either choose to confront these challenging frontiers head on or ignore them by keeping our “heads in the sand”.
